15 Year Old Jaipur Girl Pens A Beautiful Ode To The City

By Nandini Nautiyal

The Pink Paradise

There are a million reasons to visit Jaipur.

For the pink splash that runs through its veins,
the Diwali fever that lights up its busy streets like a new bride,
for its delectable offerings to a foodie and the vibrant culture that brightens up a visitor’s day.

But to me it isn’t just pink that captures my eye or glitters that attract me to it.

It’s the peace that I find at six in the evening even when somebody blows his horn impatiently at me.

It’s the view that i see in solitude when i close my eyes to find myself glowing just as the sun touches the moon at dawn at Nahargarh fort.
It is the beat that makes my heart dance as I listen to the Kalbelia songs,
the smile that takes its uncontrollable curve while I dance with the lady performer.

My eyes that capture every move of her as she paves her way through the crowd twirling in her lehenga embroidered with bandhej work and joy that my camera fails to capture.
It’s the love that I find in every nook and corner of the city and walls that have become witness of untold stories of romance.

But moreover I have fallen in love with its bliss that hugs me perfectly like a kundan neckpiece.
I fail to perfectly describe its perfection for it itself is paradise and I simply can call it ecstasy.
