VICTORIES AND BATTLES- 4 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SARGASULI IN JAIPUR.
Sargasuli or Isar Lat is also known as the tower of heaven. This long tower is located at the intersection of Tripolia Bazaar and Gangauri Bazaar in Jaipur. Even though the tower stands proudly in the dead center of the city, most of us seemed to have turned a blind eye towards it.
Enough of Hawa Mahal and Jal Mahal, head to Sargasuli this weekend and enjoy the amazing weather from 140 feet up in the air.
Here are 4 facts we thought you should know about the majestic Sargasuli-
After the demise of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1743, Maharaja Sawai Ishwari Singh became his successor. Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh refuted the decision. This disagreement over the throne led to two battles. Maharaja Sawai Ishwari Singh won the battles against all the odds. The victory of the King in 1749 marked the construction of Sargasuli or Isar Lat.
Octagonal in shape, this architectural marvel is 140 feet tall. If regional history tales are to be believed, the seven floors depict the seven battle victories of Maharaja Sawai Ishwari Singh. The 264 steps circular staircase leads to a beautiful city view at the top.
Served as a watch tower for Maharajas, this place offers a breathtaking city view. Situated in the middle of the city one can see all the major monuments from here like Nahargarh Fort, Charan Mandir, Royal Gaitor, Garh Ganesh, City Place, Yaadgar, Old Vidhan Sabha, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal.
